Prof. Seifert graduated from the Medical School of Hanover, Germany, where is also completed his neurosurgical training and later served as staff member. He was appointed to the neurosurgical staff at University of Essen, and later at the University of Leipzig where
he assumed the chairmanship of the Department of Neurosurgery. He currently serves as Director of the Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery (Center of Clinical Neurosciences) of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in
Frankfurt am Main.
Prof. Seifert is a global authority on skull base surgery with special interest in microsurgical and minimally invasive brain tumor surgery, cerebral aneurysms and cerebrovascular malformations, complex skull base tumors, and image-guided microneurosurgery. He has over 350 scientific publications in international journals and textbooks and serves on the Editorial Board and International Advisory Board of leading peer review publications
as the Journal of Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Acta Neurochirurgica, Neurosurgical Review, Operative Neurosurgery, and others.
He is a member of several national and international academic and clinical societies including the European Association Of Neurosurgical Societies, Academia Eurasiana Neurochirurgica, and World Federation of Neurosurgery, and Interdisciplinary Research Committee of the German Ministry of Health of the German Federal Government. He is a founding member of the German Society of Skull Base Surgery and the German Society of Computer and Robot-assisted Surgery. Prof. Seifert is the
current President of the German Academy of Neurosurgery, and President of the German Society of Skull Base Surgery.
